Langham Hotels International has appointed Katie Benson managing director of its newly-refurbished London hotel.
Benson, who has worked for LHI for the past nine years as managing
director of its hotels in Hong Kong and Melbourne, takes over from
Duncan Palmer, who resumes his position of managing director of The
Langham, Hong Kong and design vice president of The Langham brand.
The first woman to be crowned Australian Hotel Manager of the Year at the 2006 Hotel Management Awards, British-born Benson has more than 30 years' experience in the hospitality industry.
Her appointment coincides with the completion of an £80m upgrade of the hotel which includes a re-design of the lobby and the creation of the David Collins designed Artesian bar and The Landau restaurant.
In her new position, Benson will also oversee the operation of the group's two existing properties in Boston and Pasadena plus spearhead the group's growth opportunities in Europe and North America.
