Hospitality News : Online toolkit set to help hotels reduce energy footprint and costs

Hurricane Irene blows away horrific Mexican massacre

In Mexico, a horrific attack last week shocked even drug-conditioned observers. The event was obscured in the US, however, by Hurrience Irene, which led to cancelled train schedules in the Northeast corridor and the closure of some popular tourist spots such as Atlantic City over the weekend.

But the biggest impact was on cancelled airline flights  --  more than 12,000 of them or just about  virtually the entire schedule of the region, according to flight service Flightware.com.

The Asian answer to Las Vegas – With the next prestigious upscale hotel project at Cotai Strip in ‘Chinese Gaming city’ Macao, Hilton completes the list of hotel industry leaders at the mile of dreams and gambling. Together with franchise partner Las Vegas Sands Corp., Hilton Worldwide announced starting shot for the Conrad Macao with 636 rooms, due to opened in early 2012.

Agency publishes list of world's safest airlines

Air France, British Airways, KLM and Lufthansa are the safest airlines in Europe, according to the Geneva-based air Transport Rating Agency (ATRA), which this week published a list of the world's 10 most reliable carriers.

The safest US carriers are American Airlines and its associate American Eagle, together with Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.

Lindner Hotels: Property sought for new hotel chain

Lindner Hotels & Resorts is currently seeking locations for a new hotel brand to be introduced in late 2012. A number of 4 star hotels are to be established in prime, large city locations in Germany. The new chain will dispense with classical features such as the lobby, reception and restaurant.

Fundus Fonds: Jagdfeld remains CEO of the Adlon Fund

Berlin, Germany - 29 August 2011
The power change at the head of Berlin's Adlon-Fonds attempted by Berlin attorney Thomas Fritsch has failed. At the firm's general meeting, 74% of the investors confirmed Anno August Jagdfeld as managing director. The majority of investors also voted not to distribute the profits, but to increase the €15 million reserve being held to repay a €160 million loan in 2016.
